Instructions and Dosage

For cross-contamination or foods containing only traces of gluten, take one capsule right before the meal.

One capsule of GliadinX contains 335 mg AN-PEP and can neutralize about 0.9 g of gluten. Typically, a slice of bread contains about 2.4 g of gluten and a 1.5 oz piece of cake contains about 1 g of gluten. Sometimes, it can be challenging to determine how much gluten is contained in different types of food and a more complete chart is being developed. It is recommended to overestimate rather than underestimate the number of necessary capsules.


The maximum number of GliadinX capsules has not been established because the enzyme contained in GliadinX is a protease. This is a group of enzymes naturally occurring in the stomach and in general very few negative effects to enzymes, such as nausea, have been reported.


If it is difficult for someone to swallow capsules, they can be opened and the content can poured into a glass of water. It is recommended stir the powder thoroughly in the water before drinking it. This will not have a negative influence on the efficacy of GliadinX.


If accidental consumption of gluten is detected within an hour of ingestion, the amount of gluten should be estimated and the number of capsules, based on the above information, should be taken immediately preferably with a glass of carbonated drink or with water. However, if gluten-related symptoms are already noticeable, GliadinX will not be effective.



Camp and School


You can let your child's camp and school nurse or doctor know that GliadinX is not a prescription drug. It is an over-the-counter dietary supplement containing an enzyme similar to the more widely known lactase enzyme. Enzymes breaking down gluten are relatively new and not yet well known.

Usually, children can easily learn how many capsules they need to take for a certain amount of food. If your child is not able to determine the number of capsules needed, it is best to avoid all gluten and to take one capsule with each meal when there is a possibility of contamination.
